Lumut antiques
In Lumut town , there is a section near the Post Office called simply Zai Place which has been allocated for souvenir / antique shops . There is a mix of little shops lined up in a row displaying different types of momentos and souvenirs especially items made from seashells or something to do with marine beauty.
Browse longer and you will come across this shop selling a collection of some ancient Malay personal daggers called keris , which while deadly in attack is also a sentimental work of art with twisting sharp edges and historically significant as a major icon of Malay Culture.
He will be pleased to show you his arsenal of "weapons" and if time permits you can have a little history lesson too from him about the origins of Lumut and Dindings , of which his great grandfather was a central figure !

new happening area of Manjung
The area around the Giant Hypermarket has still much land for future development, and new buildings are coming up slowly but surely.
For instance a fun fair with its trademark ferris wheel is taking shape just beside the vacant lot used by the popular weekend pasar malam . Kids will surely love this simple thrill !
While at the rear end , a latest project of a food court and futsal centre began operations a month ago .
Time will tell whether such a new leisure pursuit in this small town can withstand the current worldwide economic downturn...
